Lindsey Petlak is a Golden Apple award-winning educator (2002) and Golden Apple Teacher of Distinction (2012) with over 15 years of educational experience, at the classroom, district, consultant, and corporate levels. Teaching all grades from K–4 in various Illinois districts, Lindsey has served on and written for numerous core curriculum and STEM committees, as well as acting as a district level teacher trainer and national conference presenter, speaking at ISTE, ILA, National Blue Ribbon Schools, and numerous state literacy, math, and STEM conferences.
Outside of the school day, through grassroots efforts and grant awards, Lindsey has created before/after school clubs for students in the areas of character development, project-based learning, and STEM/STEAM. Professionally, Lindsey has had the pleasure of serving as a Top Teaching Blogger, Teacher Advisory Board member, and national conference presenter for Scholastic, Inc. since 2011. Additionally, she has written educational articles featured in Scholastic Instructor magazine, SmartBlog on Education, and Education Talk Radio. Beyond Scholastic, she has contributed to blogs and advisory boards for Class Dojo, GoNoodle, and Bloomboard, along with her own personal classroom blog(s), where she creates and documents adventurous learning experiences for her students by implementing yearlong thematic instruction. Currently, Lindsey has the pleasure of serving as a national educational consultant for ETA/hand2mind, training teachers, coaching in classrooms alongside students and teachers, and creating hands-on learning products to reach all students through engaging, differentiated learning opportunities.
